At MTechnology we do it from Bogotá for corporate WordPress sites and WooCommerce stores, and you always know what was changed and when. It is part of our [web design and development](https://mtechnology.co/en/services/web-development) service. It rarely goes down overnight. It deteriorates quietly, and you find out from a customer. ### The update nobody dares to run Once, a plugin update broke the design, so nothing has been updated since. Every month that goes by, catching up gets more delicate. ### Forms and payments that stop working The form stops delivering or the cart stops charging, and the page looks normal. Nobody notices until someone asks why no one has written in a while. ### A dangerous-site warning An old plugin with a known security flaw is one of the most common ways in for injecting spam or redirects. If Google detects it, the browser warns your customer before letting them in. ### Nobody has the passwords The provider who built the site no longer answers, the domain is in someone else’s name and there is no backup. Changing a phone number on the page becomes a project. What it includes ## What does website maintenance include? Everything needed for the site to keep working, stay secure and keep saying what your business needs it to say: - **Updates:** of the WordPress core, the theme and the plugins, with a backup before touching anything and a check afterwards. - **Backups:** of the files and the database, with restoration tested. A backup that has never been restored is not a backup. - **Basic security:** a valid SSL certificate, admin users reviewed and unused plugins removed. - **Forms and WhatsApp:** making sure leads keep reaching where they should, including your CRM if you have one. - **Speed:** images, caching and unnecessary plugins, which is what makes a page slow on a phone. - **Domain and certificate:** so they don’t expire without anyone noticing. - **Content changes:** text, photos, prices, a seasonal banner or a new page. What is not maintenance: a redesign, a new feature or an integration with another system. That is a project with its own proposal, and we do it under [web design and development](https://mtechnology.co/en/services/web-development) or [systems integration](https://mtechnology.co/en/services/custom-software/systems-integration). Frequency ## How often should a website be maintained? There is no single frequency: each task has its own, depending on how much your site changes and whether it sells online. - **Security updates:** best applied as soon as they are released, without waiting for the next review. - **Feature updates:** grouped and tested, because they are the ones that break things most. - **Backups:** more frequent the more the site changes. A store that takes orders every day can’t afford to lose the previous day. - **Forms, payments and speed:** after every update and, on top of that, in a periodic review. - **Content:** whenever your business changes: prices, seasons, new services. The frequency of each task in your case is set out in writing in the proposal. ### Preventive and corrective maintenance Preventive maintenance stops the failure before it happens: updating WordPress, the theme and plugins, taking backups and checking that forms, payments and speed are still working. Corrective maintenance fixes it once it has happened: the site went down, a form stopped arriving or an update broke a page. Both are needed, but corrective work always comes in a hurry. A plan is there so that almost everything is preventive. So you don’t pay twice ## Website maintenance, IT support or hosting? How they differ [Hosting](https://mtechnology.co/en/services/hosting-and-cloud) is the server your site lives on: space, email, certificate and server backups. It keeps the lights on, but it doesn’t update your WordPress or change a price. Website maintenance is what happens inside the site: updates, site backups, application security, forms and content. [IT support](https://mtechnology.co/en/services/it-support) is for your office’s equipment and systems: computers, users, email and internal backups. It is not for the website. They are three different services. If your site is on our hosting, the server and the site are looked after by the same team, and nobody tells you “that’s the other provider’s job”. What we build ## What we do to maintain your website On the platforms we already build on: WordPress and WooCommerce. 01 ### WordPress, theme and plugin updates With a backup first and a check afterwards: making sure the design, the forms and the cart keep working. If a plugin has been abandoned and no longer receives updates, we tell you and suggest a replacement. 02 ### Backups that can be restored Files and database, with restoration tested. If the site is on our [managed hosting](https://mtechnology.co/en/services/hosting-and-cloud), the server’s daily backups add to the site’s own. 03 ### Basic security SSL certificate, admin users and permissions, unused plugins removed and, on our hosting, the server’s antispam, antimalware and DDoS protection. 04 ### Content changes Text, photos, prices or a new page: your team requests them and they are logged. And if you’d rather do it yourself, the admin panel is still yours. 05 ### WooCommerce stores After every update, the purchase flow is checked: cart, payment methods, shipping and confirmation email. In a store, an error doesn’t show: you notice it when sales stop. More in [online stores](https://mtechnology.co/en/services/ecommerce) and [ecommerce software](https://mtechnology.co/en/industries/ecommerce). 06 ### Moodle platforms Our hosting supports Moodle and, if the platform grows, we size a separate server for it. What else your platform needs, we review in the assessment. More in [e-learning platforms](https://mtechnology.co/en/services/e-learning-platforms). Integrations ## Which platforms and tools do we work with? The ones we already use in published projects. If your site is built on something else, we review it in the assessment before promising anything. ### Content management The foundation of almost every site we have built. - WordPress - Elementor - Elementor Pro ### Ecommerce Online stores and ticketing, with payment gateways we have already connected in real projects. - WooCommerce - PayU - Stripe ### E-learning platforms Our hosting supports Moodle. - Moodle ### Server If the site is on our hosting. - cPanel - LiteSpeed - SSL Let’s Encrypt ### Forms and analytics Making sure leads keep reaching the CRM and analytics keeps measuring after every change. - Kommo - HubSpot Forms - Google Tag Manager - Google Analytics - Microsoft Clarity We have no commercial partnership with any of these platforms: we name them because they are what the sites we have built use. How we work ## How does maintenance of your website start? - 01 ### 30-minute assessment, free of charge We go over with you what the site is built on, where it is hosted, who has the passwords and how far behind the updates are. - 02 ### Written proposal What it includes, how often and how much it costs, before we start. - 03 ### Catching up Full backup, access and domain in your company’s name, pending updates and removal of what isn’t needed. It is the most delicate part and it is done only once. - 04 ### Ongoing maintenance Updates, backups and checks of forms and payments at the agreed frequency. Every intervention is logged. - 05 ### Changes whenever you need them Your team requests the change through the channel agreed in the proposal, without having to find out who to write to. Real projects ## Sites and stores we built on these platforms Maintenance is done best on what you know from the inside. These are projects published on WordPress and WooCommerce. Congreso de Líderes ### A site that changes with every edition We built the Congreso de Líderes site on WordPress with WooCommerce, with online ticketing and card payments through Stripe, and we update it for each edition: theme, cities, panelists and sponsors change on the same domain. It is set up so the Congreso’s team can rewrite the edition from the admin panel, without depending on us for every change. [See the project : Congreso de Líderes](https://mtechnology.co/en/portfolio/congreso-de-lideres) Tocco de Amore ### A WooCommerce store with a large catalog We fully redesigned Tocco de Amore’s store on WordPress and WooCommerce: 271 published products, a catalog organized by occasion, price and category filters, local Colombian payment methods and WhatsApp advice on every product. [See the project : Tocco de Amore](https://mtechnology.co/en/portfolio/tocco-de-amore) Krypto ### A corporate site edited by its own team We redesigned Krypto’s site on WordPress with Elementor Pro, with a form that sends the service of interest to the CRM and a job portal with résumé upload. The text, the job openings and the contacts are changed by their own team. [See the project : Krypto](https://mtechnology.co/en/portfolio/krypto) These case studies show what we built; the Congreso de Líderes one also includes its update for each edition. None of the three is a maintenance contract. [See the full portfolio](https://mtechnology.co/en/portfolio). It depends on the platform, how many plugins it has, whether it is a store and how many content changes you need. The price is set out in writing in the proposal, after a free assessment. Hosting is separate and has published prices: our [hosting plans](https://mtechnology.co/en/services/hosting-and-cloud) cost COP 290,000, 390,000 and 690,000 per year. ### How often does a website need maintenance? Security updates, as soon as they come out; backups, as often as the site changes —a store that sells every day needs them more often than a corporate site—, and a full review of speed, forms and content on a periodic basis. The frequency for your case is set out in writing in the proposal. ### What happens if I don’t update WordPress or its plugins? At first, nothing visible. Over time, outdated plugins pile up already published security flaws, which is exactly what automated attacks look for. And catching up after years is more delicate than doing it on time: in a big jump, more things break. ### Do you maintain sites built by another provider? First we review it. In the assessment we look at what it is built on, whether there is access and how far behind it is, and we tell you frankly whether it makes sense to maintain it, bring it up to date or rebuild it. ### Does it cover WooCommerce stores and Moodle platforms? In a WooCommerce store, after every update we check that the cart and payments still work, because there an error costs sales. Our hosting supports WooCommerce and Moodle; if your platform has many students at the same time, the server is sized separately, and whatever else the platform needs we review in the assessment. ### Do you work with companies in other countries? Yes. Maintenance is done remotely, so the country or city where your company is located changes nothing. Meetings are held by video call. ## When did someone last update your website? Tell us what it is built on and where it is hosted. In 30 minutes, free and with no commitment, we tell you how it is doing and what it needs, even if the answer is that it needs nothing today.
