What companies tell us

Why do so many outsourced software projects go wrong?

What U.S. companies tell us after trying other routes.

A vendor who works while you sleep

With the team on the other side of the world, every question takes a day to answer and every bug is found the next morning. A small change turns into a week.

Freelancers who don’t own the whole

Each person builds their piece and nobody answers for the complete system: go-live, hosting and whatever breaks afterwards are left hanging.

A local agency that doesn’t fit the budget

The agency in your city understands the business, but its quote forces you to cut the scope until the project no longer solves the problem.

Deliveries nobody can maintain

The project is handed over without documentation or clear access, and every change depends on the original vendor still being around.

Why Colombia

Why nearshore software development in Colombia?

Nearshoring means working with a team in a nearby country instead of one across the world. For a U.S. company, Colombia is one of the closest options in Latin America by time zone.

  • The same hours as your office: Bogotá is on UTC−5 all year, with no daylight saving time — Eastern Standard Time in winter and Central Daylight Time in summer.
  • Real-time collaboration: meetings, reviews and decisions happen during your workday, not in emails that cross overnight.
  • Close enough to meet in person: there are direct flights between Bogotá and several U.S. cities, so a kickoff workshop or a key delivery can happen face to face.
  • One accountable partner: development, go-live, hosting and support by the same team, with no splitting responsibility across vendors.
How to choose

How to choose a nearshore software development partner

Before signing with any nearshore vendor — including us — check five things:

  • Live projects you can open: websites and platforms in production, with the client’s name, not loose screenshots.
  • Real working hours: how many hours of your day overlap with the team’s, and who answers when something breaks.
  • A diagnosis before a price: anyone who quotes without understanding your process is guessing.
  • What happens after delivery: who is responsible for maintenance, updates and bugs.
  • How your data is protected: where the system lives, who has access and which obligations of your state or industry apply.

Our portfolio is open: each case study says what we built and for whom.

Contracting and payment

How to hire us and how to pay

The practical part, before the first call:

  • In English: our team works in English: meetings, documentation and support.
  • In U.S. dollars: we invoice in USD from MTechnology S.A.S., and every payment is invoiced.
  • Paying from the U.S.: ACH or wire transfer to our U.S. account, Wise or PayPal.
  • Confidentiality: we sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) before seeing your company’s sensitive information.

All payment methods are listed on our payments page.

We have no commercial partnership with any of these platforms: we name them because they are the ones used in the projects we built.

Regulations

Data protection: decided before we build

The United States has no single personal data law: obligations depend on the state and the industry. California, for example, has the CCPA, expanded by the CPRA, and health data handled by providers, insurers and their vendors falls under HIPAA. Your legal team defines what applies to your system, and we design it so you can comply.

When part of the processing happens in Colombia, Law 1581 of 2012 — Colombia’s personal data protection law — also applies. Where the data is hosted and who can access it is decided in the diagnosis.

This section is descriptive; it is not legal advice. Compliance decisions are made by your company’s legal team.

Projects for the U.S.

Projects for U.S. audiences

Two live projects that reach people in the United States. Each case study tells what we built.

The Mavo Group

An English-language site for a Miami production company

We redesigned and built the complete website of The Mavo Group, a Miami video production company: fourteen pages in English, video in every section served from its own domain, two brands on one domain and a reel the client edits without touching code.

Congreso de Líderes

Technology for a leadership event across the Americas

For the Congreso de Líderes, which brings together executives from Latin America and the United States, we set up the IT infrastructure and online ticketing, with virtual access and card payments through Stripe.

MAVO’s video productions are their own; the case study shows the website we built. The full [portfolio](/portafolio) includes projects in other countries, and our headquarters are in [Colombia](/colombia). See the full portfolio.
